# Install Capgo

> Setup instructions for AI coding agents. Follow the steps in order. Human page: https://capgo.app/

Capgo adds live (OTA) updates, native iOS/Android cloud builds, and store publishing to Capacitor apps.

## 0. Check the project

- The project must be a Capacitor app: `capacitor.config.ts` or `capacitor.config.json` exists at the root.
- If it is not a Capacitor app yet, add Capacitor first: https://capacitorjs.com/docs/getting-started
- Use the package manager the project already uses (bun, pnpm, yarn or npm). Commands below use npx; swap for bunx / pnpm dlx when relevant.

## 1. Get an API key

- Ask the user for a Capgo API key. Never invent one and never commit it.
- New users sign up at https://console.capgo.app/register/ (14-day free trial, no credit card).
- API keys live at https://console.capgo.app/settings/organization/api-keys

## 2. Run the onboarding

```bash
npx @capgo/cli@latest init <APIKEY>
```

This logs in, creates the app in Capgo, installs `@capgo/capacitor-updater`, adds `notifyAppReady()`, builds, and uploads the first bundle.
It is interactive: relay each question to the user, or run the steps below one by one.

## 3. Manual steps (non-interactive)

```bash
npx @capgo/cli@latest login <APIKEY>
npx @capgo/cli@latest app add
npm install @capgo/capacitor-updater
npx cap sync
```

Call `notifyAppReady()` once the app has booted, or Capgo rolls the update back:

```ts
import { CapacitorUpdater } from '@capgo/capacitor-updater'

CapacitorUpdater.notifyAppReady()
```

Build the web assets, then ship them:

```bash
npx @capgo/cli@latest bundle upload --channel production
```

## 4. Give yourself tools (optional)

- Hosted MCP server (OAuth, no install): `https://api.capgo.app/mcp`
- Local MCP server: `npx @capgo/cli@latest mcp`
- Capacitor skills for coding agents: `npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills`
- Per-agent setup (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf): https://capgo.app/agents/

## 5. Verify

- `npx @capgo/cli@latest app list` shows the app.
- `npx @capgo/cli@latest bundle list` shows the uploaded bundle.
- Install the native app on a device, kill and reopen it: the new bundle loads.
