What Capgo does
Capgo covers the full path from your web bundle to devices in the field: upload, sign, encrypt, route through channels, deliver OTA, observe health, and recover when something goes wrong.
Release channels
Route builds to production, beta, internal, or support tracks with dynamic channels. Roll out gradually, target app versions, and roll back to the last known good bundle when a release misbehaves.
Encryption and security
Bundles are checksummed, signed, and encrypted end-to-end before they reach user devices. The CLI warns about incompatible native changes, and the Enterprise plan adds SOC 2 Type II, a DPA, and self-hosted options.
Capgo CLI
Upload bundles, manage channels, preview updates, and wire CI/CD from the terminal or GitHub Actions. Pre-flight checks validate bundle size, checksums, and native dependency risks before a bad build ships.

A clear path when Ionic Appflow winds down
Ionic announced they are winding down Appflow. Existing customers can use it until December 31, 2027, but there are no new customers or features. Capgo is actively maintained, bootstrapped, and focused on live updates as the core product.
Maintained after CodePush and App Center
Microsoft CodePush is in legacy mode for React Native, and the App Center Cordova-Capacitor path is gone. Capgo is built specifically for Capacitor and Ionic, with monthly releases, human support, and an open-source updater plugin teams can inspect.
Open source you can audit
The updater plugin and much of the Capgo ecosystem are open source. Teams can self-host, read the code, and avoid black-box release pipelines that are hard to validate for security or compliance reviews.

Why I built Capgo
I started Capgo in 2021 because shipping a one-line fix to a Capacitor app meant days of store review. Web teams deploy in minutes. Mobile teams deserved the same.
So Capgo does one job well: deliver signed web bundles to your users on their next launch, with channels, rollback, and logs around it. The updater plugin is open source, so you can audit exactly what runs in your app.
We are bootstrapped and answer to customers, not investors. Native changes still go through the stores. When you get stuck, you talk to me and the team on Discord.

How Capgo works
Most teams are live within a day. Sign up, create an app, connect a channel, upload a bundle, and devices pull the update on the next launch or background check.

Sign up and create an app
Register at capgo.app, install the Capacitor updater plugin, and link your app ID. The CLI and dashboard walk through API keys, bundle format, and channel defaults.

Configure a release channel
Point production, beta, or internal users at different channels. Set version guards, rollout rules, and encryption keys so only intended devices receive each bundle.

Upload and ship your first update
Run capgo bundle upload from CI or your laptop. Capgo validates the bundle, signs it, and publishes it to the channel. Devices pick it up on their next launch or background check.

What is the difference between OTA updates and app store review?
OTA updates change the Capacitor web layer (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and assets) without submitting a new native binary. Store review is still required when you change native code, permissions, plugins, or material app functionality. Capgo helps teams ship web-layer fixes fast while keeping native releases on the normal store path.
How does Capgo compare to Ionic Appflow?
Ionic is winding down Appflow: existing customers can use it until December 31, 2027, but there are no new customers or features. Capgo is actively developed for Capacitor live updates, with open-source components, month-to-month pricing, and migration guides for teams moving off Appflow.
How does Capgo handle security and encryption?
Bundles are checksummed, signed, and encrypted end-to-end. TLS protects data in transit, and Capgo applies encryption at rest and access controls for operational data. Enterprise customers can review the DPA, sub-processor list, and SOC 2 materials on the trust and security pages.
Can I cancel or change my plan anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time and keep access through the rest of your billing period. You can also upgrade or downgrade plans; upgrades take effect immediately, while downgrades apply at the end of the current billing cycle.
Does Capgo comply with Apple App Store guideline 2.5.2?
Capgo updates only the Capacitor web layer and does not change your native binary, native plugins, permissions, or store metadata. Each app is reviewed on its own merits, so Capgo cannot guarantee approval. Use live updates for web-layer changes within store rules, and ship a normal native release for native capabilities or material functionality changes. Review Apple guideline 2.5.2 and Google Play policies for your app before release.
