Set up Capgo in Claude Code

Three steps or less. Copy each block as is.

  1. Step 1

    Add the hosted Capgo MCP

Run this once, then type /mcp in Claude Code, pick capgo, and sign in. No API key needed.

    Terminal
$ claude mcp add --transport http capgo https://api.capgo.app/mcp
  2. Step 2

Add the local CLI MCP for builds and uploads

The local server reads your project, so Claude Code can upload bundles and request native builds. Log in once with a Capgo API key.

    Terminal
$ npx @capgo/cli@latest login $ claude mcp add --transport stdio capgo-cli -- npx @capgo/cli@latest mcp
  3. Step 3

    Install the Capgo skills

Skills teach Claude Code the Capgo and Capacitor workflows: signing, store upload, channels, and migrations.

    Terminal
    $ npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills

Claude Code notes and limits

  • Claude Code runs commands in your terminal, so it can do every step: build, publish, live update, rollback, and stats.
  • Use the hosted MCP for account work and the local CLI MCP when Claude Code needs your project files. You can add both.
  • Add --scope user to make the servers available in every project, or --scope project to share them through .mcp.json.
  • Prefer plugins? The Capgo skills repo is also a Claude Code plugin marketplace: claude plugin marketplace add Cap-go/capgo-skills.
  • Tools that delete or overwrite data are marked as destructive, so Claude Code asks before it runs them.

FAQ

Capgo and Claude Code: common questions

Can Claude Code build my iOS app without a Mac?

Yes. Claude Code runs the Capgo CLI, which uploads your project to Capgo Build. Capgo signs and builds the iOS and Android apps in the cloud and can send them to TestFlight and Google Play.

Native build docs

Do I need a Capgo API key for Claude Code?

No API key needed for the hosted MCP: it signs in with OAuth. The local CLI MCP and the CLI use an API key that you save once with npx @capgo/cli@latest login. Create the key in the Capgo console under Settings, Organization, API keys.

Can Claude Code roll back a bad update?

Yes. Ask Claude Code to point the channel back to the previous bundle. Devices switch on their next update check. The Capgo updater also rolls back on its own when a new bundle fails to start.

Live update docs

Are live updates allowed on the App Store and Google Play?

Yes, for the web layer: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and assets. Native code, new permissions, and new plugins still need a store release, which Capgo Build can make for you.

What does it cost to use Capgo from Claude Code?

The MCP servers, skills, and CLI are free to use. You need a Capgo plan, and every plan starts with a 14-day free trial with no credit card. Builds, live updates, and Observe are in every plan.
