Set up Capgo in Replit

Three steps or less. Copy each block as is.

  1. Step 1

Open your app in the Replit Shell

Replit gives you a Shell, so you can run the next steps there. Or push to GitHub from Replit and clone it on your computer.

    Shell
$ npm install $ npm run build
  2. Step 2

Wrap it with Capacitor and Capgo

Add Capacitor for iOS and Android, then let the Capgo CLI set up live updates. Use the build folder of your Replit app as webDir (dist for Vite).

    Terminal
$ npm install @capacitor/core @capacitor/cli @capacitor/ios @capacitor/android $ npx cap init "Your App" com.company.app --web-dir dist $ npx cap add ios && npx cap add android $ npx @capgo/cli@latest init
  3. Step 3

Build in the cloud and ship updates

Capgo Build signs and builds the iOS and Android apps without a Mac. After that, every web change ships as a live update.

    Terminal
$ npx @capgo/cli@latest build init $ npx @capgo/cli@latest build request --platform ios $ npx @capgo/cli@latest bundle upload --channel production

Replit notes and limits

  • Replit Agent supports remote MCP servers. Go to replit.com/integrations, add https://api.capgo.app/mcp under MCP Servers, and sign in with OAuth.
  • The Replit Shell can run the Capgo CLI, so builds and uploads work from the browser. Run npx @capgo/cli@latest login there once with your Capgo API key.
  • Replit Agent does not start local MCP servers. Use the hosted MCP plus the CLI in the Shell.

FAQ

Capgo and Replit: common questions

Can Replit build my iOS app without a Mac?

Yes, after you export the code. Wrap the web app with Capacitor, then run npx @capgo/cli@latest build request. Capgo signs and builds the iOS and Android apps in the cloud.

Native build docs

Do I need a Capgo API key for Replit?

No API key needed for the hosted MCP: it signs in with OAuth. The local CLI MCP and the CLI use an API key that you save once with npx @capgo/cli@latest login. Create the key in the Capgo console under Settings, Organization, API keys.

Create a Capgo API key

Can Replit roll back a bad update?

Yes. Ask Replit to point the channel back to the previous bundle. Devices switch on their next update check. The Capgo updater also rolls back on its own when a new bundle fails to start.

Live update docs

Are live updates allowed on the App Store and Google Play?

Yes, for the web layer: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and assets. Native code, new permissions, and new plugins still need a store release, which Capgo Build can make for you.

What does it cost to use Capgo from Replit?

The MCP servers, skills, and CLI are free to use. You need a Capgo plan, and every plan starts with a 14-day free trial with no credit card. Builds, live updates, and Observe are in every plan.
